Q&A in Official Visit Savannah Visitor’s Guide with Salt Table owners Dave and Carol Legasse

Salt Table owners Dave and Carol were 1 of only 7 Savannah business owners to be interviewed for the “Tour Like a Local” series in Visit Savannah’s Official 2014 Tourist Guide. The Tour Like a Local segments focus on local favorites, with highlights from local Savannah business owners, chefs, residents and more.

Dave and Carol were honored to be included in the publication that reaches around 600,000 in distribution. Below you will find their published answers, as well as a few that were not included in the print edition. In bold, you’ll see the fill-in-the blank questions from Visit Savannah, followed by the responses from Dave and Carol.

You have to try… (food and drink) “We love the she crab soup at Rocks on the River, it’s heaven in a bowl. The best martinis are at Jazz’d Tapas Bar, martinis and Jazz are an unbeatable combo.”

Don’t leave town without… (items made in Savannah) “a praline from Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, it’s so good your teeth hurt.”

Relive history by… (a specific experience people may not know about) “Going on a Walking Food Tour. You get to sample great local cuisine, learn some local history, all while strolling through some of our lovely Savannah Squares.”

The best view in town is… (beauty) “the view of River Street from the terrace at the Hyatt Regency. It’s great for people watching, riverboat and barge watching, and also the best view for fireworks!”

Get out and get active by… (sport/outdoor activity) “walking the Historic Downtown streets and squares, there’s over 20 miles of walking streets and what’s amazing is you can walk one way then turn around and go back and see completely different views.”

My Hostess City hero is… (tell us about a quintessential local) “Stratton Leopold! Where else can you find a world renowned film producer scooping ice cream?”

It’s worth a trip to… (somewhere off the beaten path) “visit the Wildlife Refuge and take a drive down a 5 mile unpaved road and see alligators, migrating birds and lots of wildlife just enjoying their space.”
