The short story, and all true!

Years ago, while on a romantic trip to an island off the coast of Florida, we enjoyed an amazing dining experience featuring salts from around the world. We loved the concept and wondered if there were retail stores featuring salt. We looked throughout the US for a shop, but couldn’t find one.

As a concept, ‘The Salt Table®’ brand began to take root as Christmas approached in 2009. Carol mixed together a new and amazing seasoning blend. As a humorous touch, Dave developed a “fake company” in a realistic package design and web site. We named the blend “All ‘Round Good Grinder Blend” and sent it to our friends and family as a gift. A few months later refill requests began to pour in. Eventually Dave said to Carol, Baby, we’ve got to start charging for this!” And, with those words, the quest to create a new brand of salt’s and seasonings took hold. The Salt Table was on its way to become a “real company.”

In July 2011, about 18 months later, the first Salt Table shop opened in beautiful and historic Savannah, Georgia. We now produce nearly to flavors under the Salt Table brand. All continue to be hand mixed. Recipes remain secret.

More recently we added Georgia wine and specialty foods produced by other food artisans under the Georgia Grown® program. Our products are now available in our shops, online, and in fine stores throughout the South and across america.

To many our loyal customers, thank you!

Salt Table’s Flavor Consultants often conduct impromptu “Salt Talks” about the products, such as the Himalayan Salt Plates used as cutting boards, or cooking stones. Samples of specially brewed tea and fresh popcorn by the bag are available on the spot.

You will also find highly acclaimed Georgia Grown® products such as pecans, ginger products, honey, coffee, oils, jellies and jams, cookies, snacks, and sauces — all made in Georgia. Local art, photography and handcrafted pottery are also on display to complete the Georgia experience.

The Salt Table also offers amazing Georgia wines by the bottle. The award winning wines range from fine dry reds and whites from North Georgia Mountains to the sweet low country fruit wines. Sampling of wine is also available in the downtown Savannah Shop.
